RoadPeace press release
22 January 2007
RedSpeed donation to RoadPeace
RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, welcomes
the donation of £25,000 by RedSpeed International Ltd for its
victim support services.
RedSpeed design, develop and manufacture equipment for traffic
law enforcement. They share the road safety visions of RoadPeace -
the goal of making our roads safer, making sure that the causes of
crashes, in particular speeding, are being addressed.
Safety cameras have reduced casualties for over a decade. Yet
there remain many existing road crash victims, including from
speeding and red light running, who need to be supported through
their individual tragedies, and this donation fulfils an important
need.
Since the founding of the organisation in 1992, RoadPeace has
worked to ensure that the human cost of collisions is not
forgotten. RoadPeace's national helpline for bereaved and injured
road crash victims - 0845 4500 355 - is a lifeline offering
them vital information and support, based on expertise, empathy and
understanding.
The charity also campaigns for the voice of road crash victims
to be heard and for their perspective to be included in all
initiatives related to road death and injury.
Amy Aeron-Thomas, RoadPeace Director said, 'A road death is
sudden, violent and premature, often grossly so. The experience is
too frequently made worse by society's casual response to road
crashes, especially those involving speeding. This funding from
RedSpeed is much appreciated and will help improve the support
services we offer to the bereaved and injured in their time of
need. Established after the founder's son was killed by a red light
violator in 1990, RoadPeace is keenly aware of the benefits of
safety cameras and is proud to be associated with RedSpeed'.
