February 2007
Photographic Exhibition shows horror of car crashes and impact
on people's lives
The 'When Lives Collide' travelling photographic
exhibition by award-winning commercial photographer Paul
Wenham-Clarke, who worked on the project with RoadPeace, UK's
charity for road crash victims, will be shown at numerous locations
all over Britain. It is sponsored by Green Flag Motoring
Assistance.
The tour will visit the following cities:
Newcastle, February 9 - 24, The Biscuit Factory
Bristol, March 10 - 21, Centrespace Gallery
Leeds, April 4 - 28, The Whitehall Gallery
Belfast, May 10 - 29, Conway Mill
The exhibition is an attempt to cut through the statistics and
take a personal and emotional look at this issue. The people
portrayed may be bereaved or terribly injured, with their lives
devastated. Many feel also totally let down by the justice system.
The emotional consequences are all too visible.
The exhibition contains some shocking images of crash scenes,
created using crashed vehicles and actors - to show the public how
terrible road crashes really are. Real scenes are quickly
cleared/sanitised, leading to a lack of knowledge and appreciation
of the potential risks and dangers when using the roads. Hopefully
the exhibition will encourage a serious debate and even save
lives.
RoadPeace introduced Paul to their work, to the plight of road
victims and, most importantly, to the victims themselves, who were
willing to participate as they see this exhibition as an important
acknowledgement of their loss and suffering and an honour to their
loved ones.
"RoadPeace is glad to have co-operated with Paul on this
important undertaking, which is bound to make a huge impact on
attitudes to road crashes" said Brigitte Chaudhry, President of
RoadPeace.
